Abbot Public Library is a proud sponsor of Boston Public Library’s Atlascope Project. You can find a link to this site on our website under GENEALOGY, HISTORY AND ARCHIVED MAGAZINES/NEWSPAPERS.

The Leventhal Map & Education Center at the Boston Public Library has a large collection of atlases dating from the late 19th to early 20th centuries. These atlases have been digitized into Atlascope. Many towns in Massachusetts, including Marblehead, have sponsored to have their atlases digitized as well.

To start searching you can click on “Find My Location” or type in an address into “search places.”

You can click on the up and down arrows at the bottom of the next screen to choose the underneath atlas and the atlas you would like to overlay it with so you can compare different time periods.
