AARP Tax Counseling Program

This free Tax Preparation Assistance service will be offered once a week on Mondays in the Library’s Program Room from February 6 through April 10 from 11:30 am – 5:30 pm at the interim location at 3 Brook Road in Marblehead.

Reservations are required

Reservations may be made during regular library hours. To make a reservation please call the Abbot Library at 781-631-1481 ex. 213, or ask for the Reference Desk. If no one is available please leave a message and a Reference librarian will contact you.

Please cancel and reschedule your appointment if you cannot make it. ‘No Shows’ will not be able to make a second appointment.

There is no age limit. The tax program is to help all low to moderate income taxpayers. Patrons do not need to belong to AARP to use this free tax preparation service.

This program does not cover depreciation, business inventory, or business losses.

Please bring the following to your appointment:

  1. Government issued photo identification
  2. Social Security Card or ITIN (Individual Tax Identification Number)
  3. Copy of last year’s tax returns
  4. All tax documents
    1. W-2’s
    2. 1099R
    3. 1099G
    4. 1099-Misc
    5. 1098s (including tuition)
    6. Form 1095-A if applicable
    7. In order to itemize, you will need charitable contributions, mortgage and property tax information, and medical expenses

You do not have to belong to AARP to use the service, nor is there an age requirement.
