Food Explorers

April 28 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

This event was rescheduled from Wednesday, April 21st due to the inclement weather. To register please call the Children’s Room at (781)631-1481, Ext. 217 or 237.

How do a few tiny seeds become the fruits and vegetables we love to eat? What do birds, butterflies, and bees have to do with our favorite foods? And how can the scraps from our plates help us grow more food? Find out the answers to these questions and more during Food Explorers, the Abbot Public Library’s newest STEM program for kids! Follow your food as it goes from seed to compost and farm to table. Each session will include stories and activities, as well as a take-home craft or simple science experiment to help us explore and connect to the food we eat. Join us in April as we kick off with a very special seed- and garden-themed story time in the Library’s Secret Garden to celebrate Earth Day!

This monthly program is best suited for children in kindergarten through second grade. Pre-registration is required as space is limited — to register please call the Children’s Room at (781)631-1481, Ext. 217 or 237.

This program is in-person and will be held outdoors. We will be adhering to current social distancing guidelines and COVID-19 safety protocols. Please dress for the weather, and note that masks are required for all participants and caregivers. In case of rain, the event will be held the following Wednesday, April 28th.

This program is supported by the Oliver P. Killam, Jr. Fund.
