“Continuing Conversations on Race: Calling Out Racism with Love”

January 24 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

To attend via Zoom, please register in advance for this meeting here.

In the past, we discussed one of the challenges of anti-racism and anti-oppression work can include labeling people/behaviors as racist and anti-racist. This approach often creates feelings of defensiveness and barriers for open and honest dialog. This month we will explore alternate ways to let someone know that their words or actions are not acceptable with greater empathy.

There are often opportunities to explore deeper, make meaning together, and find a mutual sense of understanding across differences. By creating connection while holding individuals accountable with love, we open the door for change.

Please come prepared to share personal stories of injustice that you’ve seen or experienced and suggestions for change. This session will be in person or online via Zoom. To attend via Zoom, please register in advance for this meeting here. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

These ongoing conversations are a safe and welcoming place in which we explore our own privilege and biases and our questions, and where we continue to learn and grow by hearing each other’s stories so that we can best make a difference. It is a place for listening, conversation, and engagement.

This program is co-sponsored by Abbot Public Library and the Marblehead Racial Justice Team.
