Poetry Salon with Claire Keyes Featuring the Work of Luisa Igloria

On Saturday, April 23, the Poetry Salon will continue its exploration of Asian-American poets with a discussion of the poetry of Luisa Igloria. Originally from Baguio City in the Philippines, Luisa Igloria is the author of 14 books of poetry and 4 chapbooks. In July 2020, Governor Ralph Northam appointed her as the 20th Poet Laureate of the Commonwealth of Virgina. She has four daughters and serves as Professor of Creative Writing and English at Old Dominion University. Luisa is an eleven-time recipient of the Carlos Palanca Memorial Award for Literature in three genres (poetry, nonfiction, and short fiction) and its Hall of Fame distinction. The Palanca Award is the Philippines’ highest literary prize. 

Please join Marblehead poet Claire Keyes from 2:00 – 4:00 pm on April 23 for a discussion of Igloria’s poems either in person at the Abbot Public Library or via Zoom.
